3.7.00 - A few Channel show no program during switching of channel

Priority: Medium
Server Information
Hardware: Albatron 865PE PRO V2 INtel, Pentium4 2.6, 1024Mb DDR, 230Gb SATA (ICH5R)
Graphic card and driver version: Geforce 5200 Ultra
Operating system: Windows XP SP2+Patches
Nebula Hardware: Low-profile PCI

Client Information
Hardware: As above
Operating system: As above
Nebula Hardware: As above

Description:
When I switch from German channel Phönix to Arte or EinsExtra to NDR,
then the screen stays black and there is no tone
The channels where it diffcult to switch to, need a longer tuning interval to get tuned in the first place

Expected behaviour:
It shows the program of the new channel with full picture and tone

Work-around:
Go to DigiTV->Files->Technical Information
and click on Discrete Frequency and change the frequency by 0.1 and back again then the program is shown correctly
Or change channel to some other channel an back again and depending on the actual neighbours the arte or NDR program is displayed correctly

DHU,

What is the signal strength , Snr and BER for these channels?
DHU

Everything is zero before changing the frequency and
after changing and back it is Strenght=78%, SNR=24dB, BER=0.0033
DHU

Possibly it has something to do with the vertical transmission compared to the other stations which are horizontical transmitted or a further difference is the error correction rate.

Here is some link to stations descripton unfortunately it is in German Confused

Kanal - Frequenz
5 - 177,5 MHz
7 - 191,5 MHz
25 - 506 MHz
27 - 522 MHz
33 - 570 MHz
44 - 658 MHz
56 - 754 MHz
59 - 778 MHz

There's a conciderable difference between the frequencies of the lower two multiplexes and that of the upper ones.

I wonder if increasing the lock time would help?
(settings/tuning/general) Try 1000 - 1500mS

[edit]
As you say the lower two are also vertically polarised. Could you ask a local aerial installer how they deal with this? (two aerials mixed?)

I have a very similar problem here in Munich, only it's so bad that during some sessions, I can't switch to some particular channels at all. (Well, you're not supposed to watch so much TV in the first place.)

Happens only with versions > 3.2, including the new 3.7.05. Going back to 3.2 "solves" the problem. Rolling Eyes

Kanal 10 212,5 MHz <-- this is the problematic frequency
Kanal 66 834 MHz
Kanal 48 690 MHz
Kanal 34 578 MHz
Kanal 56 754 MHz
Kanal 35 586 MHz

Polarization (is that the term?) is vertical for all.

Can you report this directly to Nebula, please.
DHU

The problem in Berlin is encountered at 191.5
for the stations arte, NDR, MDR and two further channel a MHP and a data channel.

If one changes the country setting only, then DigiTV will not tune to this stations, if coming from an adjusant channel with frequency 177.5 which it does normally with the German country setting, but it tunes the different channel irrespect of this country setting.

191.5 has also two data channel possibly they twist the tuning while switching and is not the vertical channel orientation or both

One thought. In Australia we have available VHF and UHF channels much as you seem to have.

191.5 and 212.5Mhz are very close to the basic clock frequency of the PC at 200Mhz. It is quite possible that EMI arising from within the PC is swamping or at least affecting the signals coming into the sensitive antenna. I saw these effects a very long time ago but rectified it with new PC equipment

Maybe see if moving the card to a slot in the case that is further away from other cards.

Your PSU maybe one source of interference

Lastly keep the antenna lead as far away from the PSU power cable and any other cables to minimise pick up, and use a quad shielded fly lead to minimise interference.Equally make sure the PC case is closed as well

No guarantees but possibly a part of your problem

Hello,

I am not quite sure about what makes the difference, but I doubt it is the hardware as DigiTV 3.2 does not show this effect.
Following has an effect or is different:
* country settings
* Vertical vs horizontal alignment
* possibly data or MPH channels on the same frequency

VHF Channels

This Problem has all Version >3.5.12b.
Nebula understand this since 1 year.
Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad
DHU

problem still got not fixed in 3.7.10,

it seems Nebula has to fix to many other problems
