Alternative to DigiTV

I've been using DigiTV happily on my desktop PC for several years now, but I have now upgraded my desktop to Windows Vista and I can't get DigiTV to work satisfactorily. I'm in central London and using an external, rooftop aerial so reception shouldn't be a problem. Can anyone suggest a good alternative?

I've used DigiTV with a USB tuner and I found that, notwithstanding the fact that I'm using an external aerial, I had to position the USB box away from the computer to get the best results (particularly for ITV1 for some reason where the signal quality dropped dramatically if the unit was near the PC). Am I right in thinking that if I installed a PCI card I would get the same reception problems because, of necessity, the aerial cable would connect at the back of the PC. So, does that mean that I need to be looking for another USB tuner?

Thanks in advance for any/everyone's help.

MediaPortal could be a good start, but it's more of an htpc programme as opposed to a desktop solution, i'm not a big fan but they have a good support forum and it's in continual development.

As far as moving the box to get a better signal, that sounds like electrical noise from your PC interfering with the signal. It's possible that this could be worse if you have a card inside the PC. It's unlikely that the problems you are seeing are cause by the tuner, and if you were to get any tuner it's liekly you would suffer from the same problems.

My USB tuner is practucally on top of my PSU and i have no problems at all.
