Dissapearing EPG and not recordingHi
I'm having a couple of problems with Digitv/iceguide. I include iceguide as I had to upgrade to Digitv3.2 to
install iceguide. And I did not suffer the problem when I was using Digitv3.128.
The problems,
1) After a recording finishes the EPG info displayed by my Nebula card dissappears. I didn't notice this
when I was using 3.128 and Nebula EPG as The computer shut itself down and I would reboot the next
morning. Rebooting brought the EPG info back.
The other thing that brings back the EPG info is to quit Digitv, not send it into silent mode but
close it from the task bar. Then use the desktop icon to open it and the EPG info is back. The EPG
info is in the EPG directory of Digitv.
2) Recording four programs from 20:30 to midnight only the first two are recorded. Example from
Wednesday night. 2030 House, 2130 NCIS, 2230 The Shield, 2330 Ten News until midnight. I put
the Ten news at the end as padding. The EPG info for 10 News continues after midnight but the EPG
only shows until midnight unless I go into the next day. Which I don't do.
I've tested recordings of four programs in the middle of the day and they record sucessfully. This leads
me to believe that having no EPG info after midnight showing has something to do with it. Only a guess
Tonight I'm going to record three programs that finish at 2330.
Has anyone come accross problems like this and is there any kind of workaround ?
Thanks for any input

Hi,
Welcome to the DigiTV forum.
Can you please provide some additional information about the problems you are experiencing, as this might help get to the cause of the problem:
1. How are you setting the timers? Via the HTPC interface (ie using the fullscreen interface, the EPG screen, and the remote), or via the 7-Day guide dialog (ie via the EPG menu->7 Day Guide... item)?
2. Are the timers "autonamed" or are you explictly naming them? If you are using autonaming, please try setting timers with explicitly named files (setting it via the EPG HTPC page or via the 7-Day guide dialog allows this).
3. Do you have Now & Next set to use "Live data" or "from EPG"? - this option is on the EPG settings tab. If you are using From EPG, please try changing to use Live data instead.
4. What options are you using for the Iceguide EPG download? You are probably best selecting "Download automatically" and "Download data for every day". (I guess you are using the direct option and downloading the data in DigiTV format direct from the IceTV servers?).
5. Do you definitely have data for the coming days in the EPG subdirectory?
Cheers,
Richard

Hi
Thanks
1. How are you setting the timers? Via the HTPC interface (ie using the fullscreen interface, the EPG screen, and the remote), or via the 7-Day guide dialog (ie via the EPG menu->7 Day Guide... item)?
1a)I am setting the timers from the fullscreen interface, I right click and select record. The recorded items show up in the EPG Menu (7 day guide)
2. Are the timers "autonamed" or are you explictly naming them? If you are using autonaming, please try setting timers with explicitly named files (setting it via the EPG HTPC page or via the 7-Day guide dialog allows this).
2a)I use the setting "use channel name" which show up in the 7day EPG as "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Rooftop"
Will try your suggestion and use 7day epg.
3. Do you have Now & Next set to use "Live data" or "from EPG"? - this option is on the EPG settings tab. If you are using From EPG, please try changing to use Live data instead.
3a)I use "Use EPG data" , I will try your option of "use live data".
4. What options are you using for the Iceguide EPG download? You are probably best selecting "Download automatically" and "Download data for every day". (I guess you are using the direct option and downloading the data in DigiTV format direct from the IceTV servers?).
4a)I use "download automatically" and "download data for every day"
After the epg data dissappears and Digitv is in the taskbar I close Digitv with the exit option and reopen with the desktop icon. Digitv will automatically download data for the next week.
5. Do you definitely have data for the coming days in the EPG subdirectory?
5a)Yes, the data for the next week is inside folders in the Digitv/epg folder. There are 18 text file listed with the data for each channel that has epg info. I can read it
I will try your suggestions and ley you know how thing come out.
The puzzling thing with the non recorded programs is that when I record in the same manner in the middle of the day, the programs are recorded ok.
Thanks

I noticed a blank EPG in 3.5.10 this morning. I didn't have time to check it out in more detail, but AFAIK the now & next was working. It could be for a number of reasons, but I'll look into it this evening and post back.

The only change I made was to change the Now & Next to Live Data. I still used the fullscreen epg screen. And the N&N change seems to have worked. I recorded all three programs from 2030 to 2330. I'm still not 100% sure if this is the permanent fix I'll believe it when I record from 2030 to 0000. Thanks Richard I'll keep you informed if things don't work out.

The EPG was blank because there were no files/folders in the EPG folder.
