connect the video-out on your device to the video-in on the PCI card.
then change the mode in DigiTV to the analogue input mode.

Hi guys long time no see!
I have promised my Dad I would convert some VHS tapes onto DVD. What are the best settings to use with DigiTV and the Analogoue input? Also which format will it record in and will I be able to use the usual DVD authoring software? And will my PC handle it?
XP3200+
512mb ram
Thanks, Mat.

DigiTV's analogue input is OK, but you might be better off using an alternative program.

Since buyin the PCI card I have learnt a lot more about video connectors - so I was wondering about the quality of that composite connector.... never got round to testing it out though.
All I am really after is VHS quality so I can archive my VHS tapes before they all rot. (Some are already well beyond the ten year shelf life...)
There is some mention on this thread of using other software with the Nebula card. Has anyone experience of both methods? If I am going to transfer 50 or so tapes, I'll happily pay out for a new card - as long as it works. But if I can get "good enough" results with Nebula and different software, then it's worth a try. |
Try using VirtualVCR (http://virtualvcr.sourceforge.net/) first....it's a much simpler programme than DScaler but it will give you an idea of the quality of video imported via the composite connector.
The secret is to import raw video and then use say VirtualDub to clean and compress it.
In the first instance video captured via the composite connector appears to be excellent but then you suddenly notice that any movement produces an annoying comb effect. This can be removed within VirtualDub by Donald Graft's Smart Deinterlace Filter 2.8 beta 1. |

Thanks! I'll give it a try.
I can get good results through Nero Vision 4, except the sound is badly out of sync. Have also been playing with VirtualVCR and iuVCR using the huffyuv codec which gives me good results, yet again sound is out of sync.
Im tottaly stumped! Any ideas?
Thanks, Mat.

You could try using VideoRedo to resync the sound.
