Samsung SM940BW

Ello guys,

Havent popped in here for a while but glad to see the forums are still going strongly!

Im currently looking for a TFT monitor, don't wan't to spend too much but am considering going for this one.

Found it cheapest on [link]

Any thoughts and suggestions?
Also how would it handle DigiTV? Given it's a 16:10 wide, and the resolution is pretty high.

Thanks, Mat.

Cool

I was looking at this one too - found a review here

Not sure what HD resolutions there are in the UK but my only worry would be the vertical resolution of 900 pixels - this means a 1080 resolution broadcast has the be reduced - which is bound to reduce quality.

Of course, a true 1080 vertical res monitor is going to cost 10 times as much Smile

<edit> although I think Benq do one which would be about 800 quid</edit>

I'm not an expert on wide-screen aspect monitors either, but the resolution on that one looks pretty low? Considering the monitor I'm using right now is a 17" 4:3 aspect but its resolution is 1280x1024.

So they're both effectively about 1.3 megapixels, but one is 19 inch? Or is that the norm for 19" WS monitors...

I think I'll do some investigation...

1440x900 is pretty standard for 19" widescreen.

The only way you will be able to get proper WS 1080 is going up to something like a 23"+ WS which has a native resolution of 1920x1200.

20" WS are usually native 1680x1050.

But then the price just starts going towards the sky......

HTH,

Personally then I'm going to stick with my 17" monitor until the 20" WS come down to a reasonable price.
