Windows Media Centre

Ive just bought a new laptop which 'often runs' on Vista. It has a Windows Media Centre which includes TV. Can you tell me if it has a method of recording films in a similar way to Nebula DigiTV using an EPG. I cant find anything about this in the blurb, but I may have missed it. Thanks in advance.

It will record TV so long as you have a TV card/stick with BDA drivers available for it. Have a look on: for further help.

I do have these items. Ive used it to record films since DigiTV's EPG went wonky. Does anyone know if WMedia Centre TV has a function to switch off the PC after recording, like DigiTV does?

My friend is a dedicated user of MCE, I'm sure he has it working as you describe. However he has moved on from XP via Vista and is now probably running the Beta Windows 7 version!

Doing a google search the subject appears to turn up quite alot:

It seems from looking at a few of the links it can be a bit problematic to get it working, I think it depends how well your PC support S3 sleep and hibernate modes?

Thanks for all your help. BTW I got digiTV working without the patch, but have no idea why!
