Umm, very interesting.
I don't believe DigiTV uses the Lame codecs - and the libs dont appear to be in the DigiTV .cab file anywhere, so I'd guess your PC picked them up from somewhere else.
Now, there are a number of reports on the 'net about Lame 3.95.x causing crashes in applications when the applications are enumerating various DirectShow filters and they get to the Lame filter (see here: [link] for example) - the apps doesnt appear to be trying to use the Lame filter but the crash occurs anyway (oh, the joys of DirectShow!).
My guess is that DigiTV or one of the components it uses (eg WMVCore.dll for the IPTV stuff) is enumerating the available DS filters, hitting the Lame one and everything dies in a heap. Because DigiTV was the app that invoked everything, it is the one that dies....
Try one of:
a. Uninstalling the Lame codecs/filters
b. Temporarily disable the Lame filter:
Control Panel->Sound and Audio device->Hardware tab->Select Audio Codes->Press Properties button->Select Properties tab.
If Lame is there, double click on Lame Encoder on the list, and select "disable this audio codec".
c. Upgrade Lame to v3.96.1: [link] |

I did see that oca post about 3.95.x..
I've downloaded the 3.96.1 archive from [link] - will see if that stops this particular crash....
(sadly, the crash doesn't happen that often - last one was actually july 17th) |
